The Surreal Cereal Video!

During Lent we challenged the school community to think of an often "taken for granted" item of food that starts our day. We asked students to bring in cereal boxes to fill the St. Albert Food Bank. We focused our efforts on the Catholic Social Teaching: Preferential Option for the Poor. "The moral test of any society is based on how the most vulnerable are treated. God’s love is universal, so this principle does not intend that we should focus on the poor to the exclusion of others, but rather that we are called to prioritize those who are in most need of our Solidarity." - Dev & Peace. Students brought in a staggering 319 boxes of cereal. To celebrate this accomplishment, using the boxes as dominos, we set up a display in the halls and watched the "domino effect" take place! Many small events made a big thing happen, and we are so proud of our JJ Nearing family. Click on the gallery to see more pictures. "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for Me." - Matthew 25:30
